Cockermouth
You can reach the town of Cockermouth in just 15 minutes by car with an abundance of bars, pubs, shops, restaurants and independent retailers. There are a wonderful selection of coffee shops and attractions such as Wordsworth House and the Kirkgate art centre which hosts regular events.
Keswick
The tourist centre of Keswick is less than a 30 minute drive away. Many specialist walking shops and retailers are available here. Attractions such as The Derwent Pencil Museum, The Theatre by the Lake and the Keswick Launch on the shore of Derwent water are in close walking distance of each other. Many great cafes, pubs and restaurants are available here.
Whinlatter
Whinlatter Forest is an idillic place to visit with many walking routes and Mountain Biking tracks. Go Ape is also based here if you fancy swinging in the trees, and lastly, but certainly not least, Siskins Cafe offers a lovely retreat to hydrate and fill up while enjoying the scenic views of the forest.
The Lakes Distillery
Are you a particular Gin or Whisky enthusiast? The Lakes Distillery would be a perfect destination to visit. The history behind the building, the distilling and the exceptional, award winning tours on offer would keep you busy for hours. Moreover, the bistro offers some delicious grub to tuck into, whether you're after coffee and cake, afternoon tea or a three-course meal.
Ullswater Steamers
Ullswater Steamers is a great chance to take is some of the most incredible views and experiences of the Lake District. Ullswater is surrounded by many picturesque walking routes and villages and taking a trip on the steam boat can be a great way to start, connect or finish your exploring route. Lingholm Kitchen and Walled Gardens
Originally a much loved holiday home for Beatrix Potter, the site has now been transformed into a fantastic eatery located next to the original walled gardens, winding pathways and Alpacaly Ever After. The keen walkers among us would also love to know you can access a
scenic walk along the shore of Derwent Water and up Catbells from the Lingholm Kitchen and Gardens.
